Trident
Trident is an excellent writing strategy that requires students to choose words very precisely to convey meaning. An example of trident in contemporary culture is NIKE's "Just Do It". A trident has three prongs that are made up of three words. It is also nice because it keeps within the "Rule of Three" so dominant in both literature and writing. The Trident can be used as a memonic device to assist students as they are acquiring a skill or to summarize a lesson.
